I believe it’s time for
us who love jazz and want to keep it going to come to the understanding
it needs to be financially supported like the philharmonic or any other art
form. |

You know many
times it’s not the big events that are the most enjoyable. I’m not saying
that going to the Schuster or the Fraze isn’t fun but at my age, I’ve found
the little out of the way and usually unexpected jazz events really are the
most enjoyable. Part of the great thing about jazz is constantly
experiencing the unusual; to me variety is the spice of life. This past
week Rosemary and I caught some jazz in a family restaurant in Springfield
and at a coffeehouse in Kettering. What great fun and entertainment and on
a budget we could afford. Look around and get a bit adventurous, you’ll be
surprised the amount of good jazz you can find in out of the way places.
